So, you’re tired of tying down bike? I don’t blame you. As you probably know, the Risk Racing Lock-N-Load mounting systems are out and available. They’re gaining traction in the marketplace and starting to become synonymous with strapless tie down systems. But, are they any good? Do they actually work and are they worth buying?

In this review of the Risk Racing Lock-N-Load Pro (and standard) Moto Transport Systems we’ll take a closer look at the anchoring systems… and I’ll give you my opinion of them.

Standard Risk Racing Lock-N-Load Review

As one of the industry’s bigger breakthroughs in recent times, the strapless anchoring system has quickly become the go-to for securing dirt bikes. The standard is the O.G. of dirt bike mounting systems. It was originally designed to make loading and unloading easier and quicker… and it works.

What’s Included

The Risk Racing Lock-N-Load tie down system is all-inclusive (almost). You get the complete Lock-N-Load system along with one pair of trailer plates.

In addition to the items that come with a standard purchase, there are also a couple of “accessories” that you can (or may need) to purchase.

  • Extra Trailer Plates
  • Truck Bed Adapter

Please note – if you are planning on using this in the bed of your truck you will need to purchase the Truck Bed Adapter Plates separate.

Positive Reviews

What Size Do You Need?

The Lock-N-Load system is sold in two different sizes: Standard and Junior.

The standard size is designed to fit full size MX bikes. The junior size Lock-N-Load is designed to fit 85 cc dirt bikes.

It is recommended that you measure your bike to double check that it will work for you.

Standard Sizing

If you’re looking at purchasing a mount for a “normal” sized dirt bike, then you want to make sure that your foot pegs are anywhere from 15-17.5 inches off the ground. In addition, your foot pegs should measure between 10-20 inches wide from end-to-end.

For mini-bike applications, the measurements are a little different. While the width of the foot pegs should be the same as the full size model (18-20 inches), the foot pegs should measure between 12.5-14.75 inches off of the ground.

Is it Worth Buying?

In a word – it depends. Ok, so that was two words.

In reality, yes the Lock-N-Load system is solid and worth buying. However, I would only recommend the standard edition to those who simply don’t have the extra $100 to spend on the pro.

Don’t get me wrong either. If you get the standard, great. You’ll be happy with it, I’m sure. The standard edition works and it’s sure better than fighting with dirt bike tie down straps. No question there. However, for the extra money the new one is definitely better.

Risk Racing Lock-N-Load Pro Review

The story here is new-and-improved. While the original was no slouch, the new Pro edition is certainly a step up. The Lock-N-Load Pro is made of aluminum, making it lighter and easier to work with. Also, it is designed to fit a wider variety of bikes without requiring as much finessing.

What Size Do You Need?

Like the standard system, the Lock-N-Load Pro is sold in two different sizes: Standard and Mini.

The Pro edition offers a better fit to a wider variety of dirt bikes.

Pro Sizing

Because of the new design, any full size dirt bike with foot pegs that measure 12.5-18 inches off of the ground and 12-21 inches wide should fit.

If your bike’s foot pegs are less than 12.5 inches off of the ground, you’re probably going to need the Mini. The Lock-N-Load Mini fits smaller bikes with foot pegs measuring between 8.5-12 inches off of the ground. The width of the bike should also be between 12-21 inches.

Is it Worth Buying?

This is a definite yes for me. These things are solid.

If you’re trying to decide whether you want to get one of these systems or something else, these are a great choice. You don’t have to mess with tie downs and you get room for your helmet, boots, tools, and whatever else.  Are they cheap? No. But, they are worth it if you can get yourself to dish out the dough.

Where to Buy

Unfortunately, you’re probably not going to be able to pick these up at your local bike shop. Unless you’ve got a pretty killer local dirt bike shop, you’re going to have to purchase these online.

Whether you go with the standard Lock-N-Load or the Pro Lock-N-Load, I recommend buying from Amazon. You get the coverage and confidence of buying from Amazon, and you’re going to get the best price.
