I’m writing this review of what I think is the best ATV gun rack after hunting season, so this research (at least for me) will be for “sport” this year. Maybe next year… if I’m able to swipe my wife’s Polaris ATV.

Anyway, it turns out that most of the gun racks for ATV models are similar in design and function. However, they are not all necessarily made the same, nor do they all live up to what the manufacturers claim.

Adjustable ATV gun rack

Although not all of these four wheeler gun racks I found are from just one company, Kolpin does make quite a few good gun racks for quads.

  • Easy installation, versatility and solid mount

Positive Reviews

These came in as the overall best ATV gun rack for the money that I could find. Some look like they are probably a tad more “sturdy” for specific circumstances (exact mounting surface, exact gun/tool to hold, etc.), but for overall uses, these are the ones I’m going with. I’ve got rakes, shovels, guns… and who knows what else to attach.

  • Holds plenty of weight for two guns, shovels, tools, etc.
  • Universal fit (Honda, Kawasaki, CAN AM Outlander, Polaris, etc.)
  • Fits existing rear and front ATV racks and handlebars
  • Money back guarantee
  • Designed to reduce wear and tear on racked items

Negative Reviews

  • A few buyers were not satisfied with the bolts provided (needed re-tightened, not threaded all the way up)
  • Some have reported that the straps leave something to be desired (although they still rate this product fairly high)
  • Not cheap for the single option

In addition to being able to carry just about anything, this quad gun rack comes with straps that have dual-loop function for doubling back over whatever you’re tying down.

Note: these types of straps are not your typical straps for tying down a dirt bike or something in the bed of your truck. You’ll need some truck loading quad ramps and tie downs if you want to load your quad up for a hunting trip.

Positive Reviews

If you’re curious about which is the best ATV double gun rack the money that I could find, this is it. While again, it is man-made so it isn’t perfect (and it’s affordable), here are the main pros and cons.

  • Tool-less removal of grips from base via thumbscrew
  • 2 Heavy-Duty retaining straps included
  • Installs on flat or 3/4-2″ round handlebars or tubing
  • Dual-Grip Mounting Beam Rotates 360°

Negative Reviews

  • Only available in black (no camo, or other fun colors)

Positive Reviews

Not all cases are created equal. While this isn’t the most expensive option (not a bad thing), if I were going to buy my wife a rifle case to put on the Polaris, this is probably the one I’d go with… although it isn’t perfect.

  • Dust and water resistant
  • Fits Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris, Suzuki, and more (universal fit)
  • Easy to install
  • Great case for rifles with a scope

Negative Reviews

  • One person mentioned replacing the provided wing-nut with a bolt (for a more secure installation)

Heavy-Duty

Kolpin Rhino Grip Pro - Universal Mount - 21560,Black

Kolpin ATV Gun Rack

If you need to attach heavy items like shovels, shotguns, augers, or whatever else, to your quad, these are a solid choice. These are the most heavy duty rifle mounting racks on the list here. They aren’t the cheapest, however they aren’t super expensive either.

If you’re looking for the best heavy duty ATV gun rack, this is the one.

Dimensions: 12″ x 4″ x 8″
Weight: 7 lbs (almost)

Features & Specifications

  • Suitable for ATV, UTV, truck, trailer, boat, golf cart and more
  • Durable cast Aluminum construction
  • Protective rubber over the molding
  • Adjustable
  • Comes with two heavy-duty rubber straps (Sold as a pair)

Positive Reviews

Okay, so we all know that no product is perfect (not even these), however this Kolpin ATV gun rack is certainly the go-to for anyone looking for the heaviest-dutiest (real word(s), trust me).

  • Option for a universal fit
  • Options for a Polaris ATV (or UTV)
  • Carries over 50 pounds
  • Strong metal mounts

Negative Reviews

I read two reviews of people reporting a lack of weather-proof. One said he questioned the finish, the other said he left his out and it had rain spots and didn’t look as cool. (I park mine under a cover, so if you’re is out i the weather, I suggest putting an ATV cover over your quad if you go with these)

  • Probably not fully weather-proof (according to two reviews I read)
  • Not cheap
  • Maybe not the best for holding a chainsaw
  • Polaris Lock and Ride version isn’t rated as highly as the universal

Are ATV Gun Racks Really Worth Buying?

Without a doubt, yes, if you need a gun rack for ATV hunting or just playing around the property, any one of these is worth buying. If you’ve got the money, install on your new quad mud tires, install one of these and head out for some fun.

Overall, having a front handlebar gun rack for your ATV is ideal, but not necessarily necessary. <- fun play on words. 😉

If I were to recommend only one, it would be the ATV Tek rack. The reason I say this is because this will fit a Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris ATV, or just about any other four wheeler just fine.
